Straight, Box, and iBOX 4D Bets Explained
Understand exact-order Straight bets, full Box permutations, and shared-stake iBOX products without confusing digit order with prize coverage.
Straight, Box, and iBOX answer a fundamental question: does the sequence of your four digits have to match the draw exactly, or do rearranged orders also win?
While Straight requires an exact match, Box and iBOX cover multiple permutations. However, Box and iBOX handle bet pricing and prize payouts very differently.
Straight: One exact four-digit order
A Straight selection (such as 1234) wins only if the winning number is drawn in that exact sequence: 1-2-3-4. If the result is 1243, 4321, or 2134, a Straight ticket does not match, even though all the same digits are present.
Straight is the simplest and least expensive way to play a single number. Remember that leading zeroes count: 0123 is a distinct 4-digit number and is completely different from 1230 or 0012.
Box: Full stake on every permutation
A Box bet (also called Permutation or System play) purchases every unique arrangement of your chosen digits as an individual full-stake entry. For a number with four unique digits (like 1234), there are 24 distinct permutations.
Because you are buying 24 separate Straight wagers, a RM1 Box bet on 1234 costs RM24 in total. If any one of those 24 permutations is drawn in a winning position, you receive the full, unreduced Straight payout for that tier (e.g., RM2,500 for 1st Prize Big).
iBOX: A shared stake spread across permutations
iBOX (called mBox by Magnum, Toto 4D i-Perm by Sports Toto, iBOX by Da Ma Cai, and i-Bet by Singapore Pools) also covers all unique permutations of your digits, but for a single fixed stake (e.g., RM1 or $1 total). Instead of paying RM24, you pay RM1.
Because your RM1 stake is split equally across all 24 permutations, the winning payout is divided by the permutation count. If your iBOX 24 number hits 1st Prize Big in Malaysia, the payout is RM2,500 / 24 = approximately RM104.16. For a 6-permutation number (e.g., 1122), the 1st Prize payout is RM2,500 / 6 = RM416.67. iBOX provides affordable coverage at proportionally lower payouts.
- Straight: 1 exact order. Cost: 1x stake. Payout: Full prize.
- Box / System: All unique orders bought individually. Cost: Nx stake (e.g. 24x). Payout: Full prize.
- iBOX / mBox / i-Perm / i-Bet: All unique orders sharing 1 stake. Cost: 1x stake. Payout: Prize divided by N.
Key points
- Straight bets require all four digits to match in the exact drawn order.
- Box buys every permutation at full stake, costing more but paying full prizes.
- iBOX splits a single stake across all permutations, reducing cost and prize proportionally.
- Repeated digits reduce the total number of unique permutations.
- Big vs Small coverage remains an independent choice on top of Straight/Box/iBOX.
